Things Are Changing

I know I said I was back a few weeks ago and that was only half-true, but I promise I am really back now. I can’t believe that summer is half over already; in my head it’s still the beginning of June! I haven’t had that many summer adventures, but for 4th of July a few of my friends met in Boston to celebrate and were treated to one of the most amazing sunsets I have ever seen.

I’ve also been thinking this summer about how things are changing. It’s been a year since I graduated from college, which is weird. It used to be that any sentence starting with the phrase “a year ago…” meant that I rewound my memory to college. It’s funny to me that a year ago I was sitting in the same apartment, at the same desk. There are no more mandatory changes in life. No one is going to force me to graduate and move on. Whatever changes come are now our choices. There have been countless tiny changes over the past year, but the two biggest changes recently are:

1. A few months ago I changed jobs, which has been fantastic. Not to mention that working from home is the best.

2. I’m moving at the end of August. My fantastic current roommate is moving to Brooklyn, so I’m moving with my other fantastic friend from high school. As much as I hate the logistics of looking for apartments and dealing with brokers (are there any who aren’t complete sleaze bags???), I do love looking at different units and trying to picture my furniture in the rooms and my clothes hanging in the closet. Of course, in Manhattan I rarely see a closet that can accomodate all my clothes, but that’s a different story.

As summer winds down, expect more posts from me!

Hello, Stranger

Dearest Readers,

I’m so sorry I have completely disappeared from the blogosphere for the past month. I have switched to a new job (more on that later) and been on vacation in Europe (more on that later too). I’m back in Manhattan now, all caught up with work, completely unpacked, and ready to resume my life on the internet.

She’s so pretty!

Hello everyone! I am blogging to you from my beautiful brand new 13″ MacBook Pro! She is very pretty and I love her.

Thus far my weekend has involved a wedding shower, domination of the NYTimes Sunday crossword puzzle, and more bread baking. And tonight I am going to my first ever Yankees game! I hope the weather clears! For now I am going to do some cleaning and errands (how DOES my room become such a mess??), but I will be back for a full report tomorrow.

Happy Monday!

Hello world!

Hello everyone.

I have tried to blog in the past and gotten distracted by things like finding a job, adjusting to life in the real world, and coming to partially polite terms with adulthood. However, after taking a few months off from writing a blog and reading blogs, I have become inspired and am picking up my digital quill pen again. I cannot promise to post at regular intervals or be freakishly insightful and charmingly candid all the time. But I do promise to write about my cooking adventures, my attempts to grow plants in Manhattan, and any amusing anecdotes regarding my efforts to be attractive, witty, and somehow not completely embarrassing while drunk or (/and) on dates. Also expect posts about fashion, art, design, books, and music I stumble upon in my wanderings through New York and the internet. In other words, this blog is going to be about Things I Like and all the stupid things I do while I try to do Things I Like.

Coming tomorrow: Patience with Plants and An Experiment in Exercise
