Saturday Wishlist

Sorry I’ve been sort of absent this week. Here’s the short version of my wishlist from the past few days.

1. Sony Alpha NEX5 Camera It’s the smallest camera with interchangeable lenses. It has all sorts of fancy features like a “14.2 megapixel APS-C sensor, a new E-mount lens system, 1080p video recording, ISO 12,800 sensitivity, 25-point autofocus, and a tiltable 3-inch LCD screen.” Plus it has some of the most convenient features of Sony’s point-and-shoots such as hand-help twilight mode. {from Uncrate}

2. Philips EnduraLCD Lightbulbs It last 25 times longer and uses 80% less energy than the standard 60 watt incandescent lightbulb. {from NotCot, press release from Philips}

3. Want Les Essentiels De La Vie Black Shopper Bag I’m a big fan of simple bags. Jack Spade and Lonchamp are my standard go-to brands when I’m searching for a new bag. So I love this black shopper. It’s simple and sleek. Perfect. {from Selectism}

Sunshine!

As evidenced in earlier posts, I like both office supplies and plants. Field Notes apparently read my mind and put together this cute package of three cheerful Field Notes notebooks and a packet of marigold seeds. Perfect for spring!

Monday Things

I’m heading back to New York tomorrow, which means blogging activities will resume at their normal pace tomorrow afternoon. Here are just a few things in the meantime.

1. I saw The Young Victoria last night and it was amazing. Even though there’s no clear plot structure, the movie is gorgeous and very well acted. It also has some of my favorite British period actors (ex. Miranda Richardson as Duchess of Kent, Jim Broadbent as King William, Harriet Walter as Queen Adelaide, and Michael Maloney as Sir Robert Peel).

2. I love happy PostSecrets. This one was posted yesterday and might be my all-time favorite.

3. Selectism, as always, read my mind and posted this amazing striped jumper. I don’t care if it’s supposed to be for boys. This girl wants one.

When I get back I promise to blog about all the bread I baked this weekend and my photogenic cat and grilled cheese.

Things I’m Loving: Canvas Tote Bags

For whatever reason, the warm weather is making me extremely lustful for canvas tote bags (ever notice how much I use the word “lust” on this blog? too much?). Normally I cart around my giant purple leather sack or my trusty black Jack Spade messenger to and from work, but recently I have ditched both in favor of my ancient orange-strapped L. L. Bean Boat & Tote. The warmth and sunshine make me feel more casual, like my belongings can be chic-carelessly thrown into a bag without worrying about snow or rain or freezing temperatures. I picture myself spontaneously stopping by outdoor markets and lazily collecting apples and cheeses and flowers in my spacious tote bag. In this weather, armed with my tote, I am ready for whatever Manhattan adventures lie before me.

So you can imagine the delight with which I beheld this amazing Penfield Squall tote bag on Selectism this morning (Selectism is so awful because I want about 75% of the things they post, even though it’s mostly for men). I love the navy canvas and the leather details. I want to wear it with a crisp white shirt, loose khaki shorts, and navy Toms shoes. Top it off with a panama hat and I’m ready to load that bag with as many books and as much wine, cheese, fruit, and bread as possible and head to Central Park. Or the beach. Or St Tropez. Or Monaco. See? The possibilities are really endless…

Limited Edition Wayfarers!

I know. This is totally stupid. But as I have mentioned before, I have a Wayfarer obsession, so naturally I love these limited edition Wayfarers. Lust.

Delicious Sandwich

This is a cashew butter, dulce de leche, banana and apricot jam sandwich seen on Selectism and I want it. Aaron Panone has a great food and food photography column on Selectism that always manages to seduce me and my taste buds.
